The mark
A few threads survive on the worn strap. They are too damaged to identify, which has not prevented someone from calling them the first Oracle symbol. The claim is rejected. Where the design should establish a lineage, there is mostly missing cloth.
The absence gives the story room to grow. A mark that could be read might settle a modest question; an unreadable one can be made to carry an entire origin.
The loop
The marginalia turns the same object in another direction. A wrist strap holds a racket to the hand. What matters is the care taken with something that could otherwise be released among other players. Justice and the Emperor meet in that ordinary restraint.
Some readers fasten their own racket strap before shuffling. The gesture reminds them that an interpretation, too, reaches people beyond the person making it. This is an optional custom; the reading owes its care to the reader, with or without the gesture.
The fragment never recovers the missing emblem. It leaves a worn loop beside a claim, and a hand that must decide how carefully to hold each.
